Thanks Frank. I’d like to add that this is one of my main selling points when talking to a business about the internet. The internet has been social but more than ever it has become THE referral system for most businesses and they don’t realize this (well some do but you know what I mean). I basically tell them that they need “reputation management” if they plan on competing and succeeding online. If they aren’t on top of it, what other say can greatly impact sales and future clientele!

I totally agree with you. When you look at social media in terms of reputation management and you focus on building relationships (as a method to building a great reputation) – then referrals should flow naturally – as they would offline as well. Great point!
