Average Email Marketing Open Rates: How Do You Stack Up?
By
If you’re doing any sort of email marketing – which you absolutely should if your goal is to create online cashflow – then you’ve gotta ask yourself the question…”Am I doing this thing right?”
Here are a few pointers…
First of all, you require an email follow-up and email broadcast system that will get your messages delivered. What do I recommend? Well, I actually have used a few. And here’s my favorite: ComF5. What I like most about email marketing is the analytics. It’s real nice to be able to TRACK your success rate and whether or not you’re actually getting through to your leads, prospects, customers and clients.
This led me to my next question…
What exactly is a good open rate (that’s the rate at which your messages are actually being opened)? What about a click-through rate (if you send out messages you should be tracking who clicks on what links) because those people will be more hyper-responsive to your messages.
So I went out and had a look online – I thought you might like to see what I found – who knows – maybe it will help you out in your marketing to see if you fall in line.
Now the one thing you need to know is that ‘open rate’ is calculated using a graphic in the message. You might notice in your email that you see – view images – and if you’re images are off – then the email marketer may not be able to track that you opened that message.
This means that open rates may actually be higher than what you’re seeing.
Check out this graph that I found (below)

What does it tell you…?
It’s saying that ‘on average’:
- Your emails will actually make it (delivered) to someone’s inbox about 95% of the time – 5% will bounce
- Your emails will be opened a little better than 20% of the time – yup…80% of them DON’T EVEN GET OPENED!
- Your email links (inside the message) will get clicked on about 6% of the time – over 94% of the people who get your email won’t click on the links inside the body of the message.
Again, it all comes back to having a great email marketing system ComF5, and these numbers take into account the whole ‘image’ tracking thing I was talking about before – so they might be slightly higher.
Here’s the clincher though – even if you learn to send emails, learn to get the opened, and learn to get clicks – how are YOU making money online?
Find one way – a great way – an inexpensive way to start your own Internet Business.
Go Forth…And Prosper!
